It will soon be a LEGAL requirement that ALL Company Directors verify their identities at Companies House
‘Identity verification with Companies House is now mandatory for anyone setting up, running, owning, or controlling a UK company. This new requirement, introduced under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, aims to reduce fraud and improve the trustworthiness of the public register. The deadline for existing directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) to verify their identity is Autumn 2025’

BEFORE YOU START, I recommend you are sat in front of your Computer and have your Mobile phone available to download GOV app and your micro chip passport

Please follow these simple steps to verify your identity at Companies House
• Click on the link above
• Create a sign in using your email address and create a password
• You will then have to confirm your email address as they will send you a 6 digit code to your email
• You will then be asked to provide your mobile phone number and again they will text you a 6 digit code for you to enter to confirm
• Verify your identity
• You will be asked to download the Gov.uk One Login
• You then have to sign in to the mobile phone app using the email address and password previously created
• A text code will then be sent to your phone for you to enter to enable log-in to the app
• You are now logged in to the Computer and also your mobile app simultaneously
• Follow the steps asked using your mobile phone and passport
• First you will be asked to open your passport and allow your mobile phone to scan the photo page, simply line up your face photo with the frame and the app will scan the picture
• Second you will be asked to place your mobile phone over the two pages of your photo pages and your phone will read the micro chip of your passport (this can be a little tricky as you need to place your phone over your photo pages, keep trying and it does eventually work)
• Third you will then be asked to scan your face using your phone, the phone will create pixel lights as it does this
• If all is successful your will then be asked to go back to your Computer and confirm what year you moved into your home address
• Follow any further questions until you get an on screen confirmation that your identity has been verified and make a note of your verification number

I must admit its all very Sci-Fi but it does work.

HOWEVER, if all this is too much you can:
Download the Gov.uk One Login app, enter your details from your passport photo ID first, then go to a participating Post Office with your passport for them to verify on the system (most large post offices offer this services)

PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS AS IT IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT

When we get to the end of November 2025 I will be completing your company Annual CS01 Declarations which will require me to provide further information about your business, if you have not verified your identity it will prevent me from completing the annual declarations

The process takes about 5 minutes of your time as long as you have your COMPUTER, EMAIL, MOBILE PHONE and PASSPORT available prior to commencement
You do not need your company number or companies house access codes as it is only your identity that you are proving because you are a Director of a UK company or multiple companies
